What is the messy schoolhouse?
A place that feels like home, where a mess is proof of exploration, and learning happens all around us!

Who is this messy teacher?

I’m Callie or as my middle son would say “messy mama” and I wear that title like a badge of honor. With 15 years of experience working in early education settings I have cultivated unique and effective strategies for enriching the learning experience. Fostering independence, empathy, resiliency, a love for knowledge and nature is my specialty. I’ve had the privilege of working in some incredible schools over the years where most of the transformative experiences happened outside of the classroom. As John Muir said “of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.” Now I walk that dirt path alongside my students in a new venture of my own. If you believe that learning happens beyond classroom walls, that children need more time outdoors, and that community is vital to young families then join us on this new path at The Messy Schoolhouse.

Where are we located?

We happily serve the community and families of Liberty County. Our schoolhouse is nestled in the heart of Liberty with plenty of outdoor space & an indoor schoolroom as well.
